CLIMATE
The equipment that keeps your site up
and running is maintained in a closely
monitored, temperature-controlled environment.
We are working in close collaboration
with DATOTEL, whose ultra-modern Data
Center operates at between 65 and 75 degrees
Fahrenheit and at 30 to 45 percent relative
humidity.
The St. Louis IDC has seven 26-ton DataAire
HVAC systems to maintain optimal environmental
balance at all times. The system runs
on a closed loop glycol- based system.
HVAC units on the raised floor are designed
to take in air through the top, and expel
cooled air into the plenum beneath the
raised floor. Temperatures, humidity,
pressures, etc. are monitored closely
in the NOC through DataTrax. DATOTEL
has deployed an N+1 redundancy strategy
with respect to HVAC, and has a one-hour
response for rental "Move 'n Cools"
with its HVAC repair contractor. The need
for additional vented floor tiles to maintain
proper temperatures is determined by several
temperature sensors, both above and below
the raised floor, throughout the Data
Center. We advise customers to establish
"hot" and "cold" rows
to ensure proper cooling of equipment.
Our present design allots for approximately
260 BTUs/hr per square foot. HVAC utilization
is measured monthly and as it approaches
capacity, our Facilities Engineering Group
designs and implements additional cooling
capacity for the Data Center. These designs
may include adding more CRAC units or
migrating to a cooling tower model. We
track over 80 metrics in the Data Center,
and power levels and temperatures are
tracked monthly and reviewed by our Central
Engineering Staff. The staff then recommends
HVAC additions and provides additional
design work to ensure installations meet
stringent SERVER4YOU standards.
SECURITY
The Data Center is kept under constant
surveillance and is protected by state-of-the-art
security systems. The Center is absolutely
off-limits to anyone who doesn't belong
there. This enables us to maintain a constant,
interference-free operating environment.
Our hardware and systems are safe; your
data is safe.
POWER SYSTEM
We protect your Website with two uninterruptible
power systems (UPS) and a class-leading
backup diesel generator. The infrastructure
is designed to sustain an indefinite power
outage. DATOTEL also maintains contracts
with two refuelling vendors, in the event
that the outage takes longer than 24 hours.
All power to the Data Center floor is
clean power run through the UPS systems.
The power grid that feeds the facility
is highly reliable, now serving without
interruption for nearly three years.
Our utility provider transfers the power
to us through a dedicated transformer
located and secured in the basement of
the building. The power is then fed through
dedicated conduit from the basement to
our facility. The design includes an Automatic
Transfer Switch (ATS), redundant Transient
Voltage Surge Suppressors and Power Distribution
Units. All power infrastructures are monitored
closely in the on-site NOC.
FIREWALL
All servers are protected from hackers
and other network security breeches by
a state-of-the-art firewall system.
